Accessibility planning

Accessibility planning helps organizations proactively identify and remove accessibility barriers in policies, spaces, services, and communications. It improves user experiences, ensures compliance with accessibility legislation, and builds a roadmap for organization-wide change.
We‘ll guide you through our proven five-step process for accessibility plan development. Our people-centred approach balances the voices of your disabled clients and employees with the development of a practical and operationally realistic plan your team can put into action.
Here’s what to expect:
- We’ll begin with a discovery session to learn about your key partners and impacted parties, operational constraints, and internal planning processes.
- We provide legislation briefings and training to ensure foundational knowledge for your team.
- We help you establish governance and accountability mechanisms to ensure accessibility work is sustainable.
- We help you to identify barriers and priorities by hosting focus groups, surveys, or community engagements to gather insights from clients and employees with firsthand experience of barriers in your services or workplace.
- We use these insights to develop a clear, actionable accessibility plan aligned with legislative requirements and organizational priorities.
- We help you design and build in feedback loops and goal measurement mechanisms, along with a plan for regular updates to ensure your accessibility plan meets evolving legislative requirements.
We can also support implementation and related change management for your new or updated accessibility plan.

BCIT is well on its way to responding to the Accessible British Columbia Act and hiring Untapped Accessibility has been instrumental in guiding the development of our accessibility plan as one step towards our goal of an inclusive campus for all.
We would highly recommend Untapped Accessibility and Trish Kelly for their thoughtful intersectional approach to engaging with BCIT so that we may flourish towards a barrier free campus.
